About us
Hi!
I'm Captain Chris Thorburn.
My wife, Jolanta ('Joli') Thorburn and I own and operate Thorburn Marine.
We're passionate about the ocean and the yachting industry, and are both dedicated to the provision of outstanding services within this industry.
I've lived on, in or around boats my entire life. I began my international career on Superyachts during 2007, having left my home country of South Africa to pursue a career on the water. Joli, who originally hails from Poland, began working in the industry at almost exactly the same time. Between us, we have over two decades of combined experience in almost every aspect of the professional yachting industry.
We've sailed all over the world, from the exotic islands of the Caribbean, to the icy stretches of the Baltic Sea. We've traversed the East and West Coasts of the United States and have been fortunate enough to sail to and around the Bahamas, Cuba, Mexico, Belize, Costa Rica, North Germany, the Mediterranean (including: Turkey, Greece, Spain, France and Italy), Poland, Sweden, Denmark and Norway.
We've also crossed the Atlantic, taking a Panama Canal transit leading us to San Diego via the exquisite Sea of Cortez - eventually crossing the Pacific to Hawaii and South across the equator to French Polynesia.
We're now proud to call the beautiful Pacific Northwest city of Seattle our permanent home. We've based Thorburn Marine here, and have already managed to grow a strong reputation for our services amongst local yacht owners and a host of international visitors.
It is with great pleasure that we offer our services, and the benefit of our considerable experience in the industry to our clients. We endeavour to offer the same passion, dedication and attention to detail that has enabled us to work successfully within the industry for as long as we have, and that we are certain will propel Thorburn Marine for many years to come.
